NGR are not accurate only approxĪccurate to 100m is fine for me! Great free tool if you don't need a pro level accuracy - and if you need pro accuracy, you should be prepared to pay. I have compared the output from your map with 2 independent maps. I think the calculations are not correct. In short the output is accurate, but when comparing to other maps make sure you are using the same co-ordinate system.Ĭomplete and utter waste of time, the Easting/Northing references are MILES out. If you wish to compare this to an Ordnance Survey Map you will need to convert the output to the OSGB36 co-ordinate system. Grids like this work best for determining the coordinates of a mark on the map. For example on a 1:24,000 scale USGS topo map the UTM grid lines are 1000m apart. I believe the output from this tool is in the WGS84 co-ordinate system. The UTM grid overlays are useful to interpolate one decimal place beyond the grid interval on the map. Therefore consistently 100 metres inaccurate. Excellent overhead views but appears to give coordinates based on the WGS84(ETRS89) geoid which is not what the OS uses (OSGB36).
